I'm Back! (hopefully...)

My God, I didn't even realize it's been almost a year since my last posting!

Ok, I really have to exert some effort in writing something for my blog.  I created this blog after all because I need to express some things out.

Update on my studies. I have to put my quest for another degree on hold because of logistical problems. Previously, I attend school at a partner campus that's only 15 minutes away from my place of work.  It was great. I don't have to travel far. A semester ago I learned that my school will be offering less and less distance learning stuff either on the Internet or the remote tv hookup thing because of poor enrollment.  It seems that more and more students are staying away from Compute Science stuff.

Actually, they were saying that there'll be more offerings but right now there's nothing and I really don't like to travel 50-60 miles, get snarled in traffic, and be late. That's how far my school is.

Another alternative is to enroll in a completely online University (University of Phoenix, etc) but the only problem is that my company won't reimburse me. Why? Their answer was that these online universities don't meet one criterion: they must have an equivalent brick and mortar campus.  Another was that these online universities charges so much more.  Which is true.

So there it is...

It's been awhile!

Man, it's been awhile since I posted. Anyway, to continue with what I was rambling about in my last post. I passed my first academic subject. Congratulations to myself. In the process, I also learned Java and C#! It feels great being able to brag about that.

I also got buried with work both at my job and at school. I don't mind really. It's just that sometimes I feel the need to have 48 hours in a day.

New job!

I'm learning a lot of cool stuff in my new job as Software Engineer. I get to use my experience on computer programming using Visual Basic in a more concrete way. On top of that, I'm into C#, web-services and Delphi.

C# is quite new to me. I remember very well the days that I spent trying to figure out how the language works. It took some time, a lot of head-scratching and lots and lots of Googling. But it's paying off and everything is falling in its place.

Also, I get to delve deeper into SQL Server. I thought I already know a lot of about SQL coding but, believe me, it's very, very different in the real world. More googling!

In a few days, I'll be starting on a new language; one that I have never programmed with. I'm pretty sure that I will like this language too. It's Java. I know, it's been around and it's very popular but hey, it's a Microsoft world out there and previously I just didn't have the time to go learn another language.

This time it's going to be different. I'm off to school (my place of work is paying for it) and it's one of the courses that I need to take. I would have preferred C# but they don't have that so. I'm not disappointed. In fact, I'm glad that I get to learn Java finally.

And, oh before I leave, I just want to let the whole world know about my new website. It's http://www.plumjava.com Currently, there's not much in there. That, I hope would change in a few days. Did I mention that I'm also learning stylesheets? Oh, yes. Definitely.

It's going to be hell juggling my schedules from hereon. School, work, home. Hopefully, I'll make it to the next posting!
